Air treatment

Dryers and filtration that take the water, oil and dirt out of your compressed air. Pick what you are looking for.

The everyday dryer

Refrigerated dryers

Chills the compressed air so the water condenses and drains away, the same way an air conditioner pulls humidity out of a room.

When dry has to mean dry

Desiccant dryers

Passes the air through twin towers of desiccant that pull the moisture out. One tower dries while the other regenerates, then they swap.

Desiccant dryers

Dry air with no power

Membrane dryers

Bundles of hollow fibers let water vapor pass through the fiber wall while the dry air carries on down the line. No refrigerant, no desiccant, no electricity.

Take out what the dryer can't

Compressed air filtration

Removes solid particles, water and oil aerosols, and oil vapor. Filters sit before the dryer to protect it and after it to polish the air for your process.

Compressed air filtration

Why it matters

Air leaves the compressor hot, wet and dirty.

Compressing air concentrates the water vapor, oil and particles that were already in it. Left alone, that ends up as rust in your piping, water in your tools and rejects in your product. Treatment is what turns it into usable air.

Start

Compressor

Discharge air is hot, saturated with water and carries oil and particles.

Clean

Pre-filter

Knocks out bulk water, oil aerosols and dirt so the dryer can do its job.

Dry

Dryer

Refrigerated, desiccant or membrane, chosen by how dry the air has to be.

Polish

After-filter

Catches desiccant dust and oil vapor before the air reaches your process.

Result

Your process

Clean, dry air at the quality class your equipment and product need.

Which dryer do I need

Start with how dry

The required dew point usually makes the decision. Filtration goes with all three.

DryerTypical pressure dew pointPowerChoose it whenCost to run
Refrigerated35 to 39°FElectricAir stays indoors and above freezing, and the process does not need bone-dry air.▬▬▬ Lowest
Desiccant-40°F and lowerCompressed air purge, heater or blower, by designInstrument air, outdoor lines, or any process where moisture ruins product.▬▬▬ Highest, varies by type
